birch tree
the two had grown so tightly together at their base. I could sense their pressure, familiar and unrelenting, letting in no light, no air, no weather for years unknown. for that allowance it would mean one would die, to fall away. the weaker of the two. to cease. only then could we count their life rings. if I were that tree and you my together, would we master this equilibrium, growing upward towards that same point of energy? A root ball, growth rings, wrapped in paper layers, all shared as we grew into ourselves. We, both healthy as we are, slightly paralleled in our lives, reaching towards the same point. simple answer, it's just so with nature. nothing uncommon, but I return to our shared constant agreeable pressure against each others layers, rings and roots. and I believe this is much more than common.
